AmosB. got in contact today and he must realise how valuable he is to the GDA as he doesn't miss a heartbeat. He mentioned that although I could not attend the WDF conference at Bridlington because we simply arrive too late, that he should be able to attend as he should have arrived in Bridlington by 3pm.
For this reason I have forwarded all the necessary documentation and completed the registration form which he should hand in at the meeting. I also include in this form my Skype name as this can save the WDF monies if they need to speak to me (lets see if Roy Price realises this new addition and includes it as standard in next years form).
This meeting is rather important because of WADA and its anti doping rules which the WDF will integrate and this will affect Gibraltar and we need to know what the WDF's plan of action will be concerning this.
Oh BTW it will be a long post today so bare with me jejejeje....
I also spoke to DysonP. yet again concerning the due player subs for St. Joseph's and that he needs to get that sorted ASAP. He also mentioned that the services ladies play at the Wembley bar and that there are 40 odd ladies that could be a welcome addition to the GDA so that we can start integrating ladies back into the sport. Currently there is only one single girl playing for the youth and that's it, quite drastic I know and we should really try our hardest to do something about it and prepare a plan of action.
Today I managed to get the article concerning the 1st Ranking, the Millennium Singles which Dylan Duo won against Dyson Parody in the final and if you visit the website you can pick it up from there http://www.gibraltardarts.com/
This article would have been completed earlier but I was trying to investigate how many 180's were scored during the final as no one remembers. We do have a register and it is the players responsibility and chalker to write them down. After sending an email to all members to see if ANYONE can remember the 180's scored it was amazing that the feedback was so varied most said I don't remember, I don't recall, 1 said 3 each, Dylan said he thinks 1 and Dyson said he thinks 2, the Chalker didn't remember, the secretary didn't remember and neither could I. For that simple reason and through no fault of mine, no one gets 180's recorded in the final as like I said above its the players & chalkers responsibility to complete the official 180's registry sheet, sorry guys.
I have also taken my time to prepare an email for the Media and forwarded it to contacts and members alike concerning how some articles are not published and the finger is pointed at me, see below as its self explanatory:
RE: GDA - Media unpublished Articles
Dear Media / Contacts / Members,
It came to my attention recently that some members had complained that they had been informed by different press offices that certain articles had not been received and that is why they were never published on local press (or abroad for that matter). This surprised me to say the least.
As much as the GDA appreciates all your help (and believe you me, we do, as its highly contributory to the success of the association), I however do not like it when I am being accused of not having done something.
My life is driven by darts and I push it as far forward as possible.
No one devotes as much time to darts as I do, someone who thinks, sleeps, eats darts and I clearly use my time to promote the sport of darts in Gibraltar and abroad to its limits and all this to my detriment as a darts player.
Staff from different media sources telling GDA members "Oh we never received that article" is clearly not on, when you know I distribute all articles & press releases to the media, members & contacts via email.
Whether these are published or not is not up to me!!!! but on you guys!!!! The best I can do is make sure you receive all articles, so I please ask you not to ill inform GDA members that you have not received articles when my sent items folder says otherwise.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Yours in darts.
Justin Broton
GDA President
Lastly today (and things have been left out), I check the post and receive documentation from the Gibraltar Sports & Leisure Authority and the recent meeting they had to delegate heads which act as intermediary consultants for the all the sports in Gibraltar. I of course read the minutes of the meetings and everything seems to be ok and the usual suspects have been re-elected. Quite frankly we should have attended asall the heads of different sports attend including the CEO of the Sports Authority and our Sport Minister is the chairman, but with so many things on my plate I might have not told the general secretary to do so.
