Lots done but practicing - 27 Nov 2008

Even though I have been recently doing tons of stuff I have not forgotten that I come first and that I have to put in the practice for the World Pro Playoffs & Winmau.

My record over there is not great but I am hoping that someday I do break the ice and get a good result, which would be at least a getting through few rounds, a board final or even my dream which is to play on stage.

Amos called me up and reminded me if we were going to attend the Winmau Xmas dinner which made me think (and frankly we all had forgotten about). After I ended speaking to him I got busy and called Tich and sent text to all parties that are going, which reminds me I have to tell Alex, the youth player and I will do, 1st thing tomorrow.

After everyone except HarryP. confirmed I basically got a majority vote and was not going to bother about losing £18 worth of 1 person not going so I sent Olly an email explaining our circumstances and if it would not be too late to get tickets. I have had to send him another email to encourage a prompt response and to show we are serious about attending as I haven't received a reply and its now 22:25pm (I sent the 1st email and got a read receipt at 11:30am which is 10:30 UK time), so its not looking too promising.

I also checked who I play in the Winmau (a Danish player) and in the World Pro Playoffs I am playing against Steve Brown who I met a few times as during my stay in the UK he actually played for our team, however I doubt if he remembers me.

After our photo yesterday for a media article showing the selection squad attending the Winmau I have sent those concerned a text message for them to confirm if they would like the sponsors mentioned in the article. I find it quite astonishing that its so late at night and I have had to resend the text message as they have not confirmed (well DysonP. did, he called me). Then they wonder why its so difficult to get sponsorships but their you go. I am mentioning here simply because I explicitly told them to text me the info and they might not understand why but the reason is pretty simple, so that I get the names of the sponsors correct and so that when I sit down to prepare the article I have them in my messages folder on my mobile phone and not have to look for pieces of paper where I jotted them down. Sorry Dyson you simply know you're going to get mentioned especially if you make me work twice as hard.

Its quite interesting when a new publisher comes into the picture and I never miss the chance to get in contact, present myself and ask them if they would like to receive press releases and articles from the GDA. It appear to be a good newspaper called GibLive! full of sporting and current affairs and lets hope they become successful especially if they publish our stuff. Lets see if they are interested, I am hoping the answer is yes.

Another Gache reminder to the one that doesn't seem to know where the shop is..... You are costing me 8 pence a day on the text reminders I am sending you daily, by my reckoning we are now talking of about 80 pence spent on something that should have been done 4 weeks ago....

GBC are always at hand to get the latest news concerning the GDA and although I usually get the phone call whilst I am at work I try to oblige with as much information as possible on our movements.

Also today I received an email from a kid sent in via the website contact us form and he showed interest in joining the youth league (plus a few of his friends). I have replied to him and asked him for a contact number and I am hoping that HarryP. can kick start it when he can of course. At that point I will give him the list of new players that have been letting me know that they are very keen to join.

ManoloV. our Spanish representative also received a phone call from Madrid concerning players that want to play in the PDC players championships in January and that they are interested in placing at least 40 players directly into the competition. I think I will reply by email to the person and advise him on the costs of doing so 40 x 260 Euros equals a lot of money so I will advise him of that as I think he is confused in terms of the monies involved.
