We get up early at 8:30am and have a good English breakfast to prepare us for the long day ahead.
My game is at 2:30pm so I have plenty of time to relax, practice, focus and even see my other compatriots play before my own game.
I had a fantastic game against Steve Brown, unfortunately when I am very focused I seem not to remember much in terms of the scoring. Which is why I tend to want records of games, purely for that reason, if I don't remember and I am playing, what are the chances a spectator will remember how well you actually played jejeje.
Anyways it was a very good game with tons, 125's & 140's flying left, right & centre but my best part of the game was my finishing. In fact I do remember that after being 1 set down I pulled it to 1 set all (due to clinical finishing) and at the point when I could have gone 2 legs up on the 3rd and final set I missed 32 and he took it out and went 2-0 up, then I came back to make it 2-1 in legs but unfortunately that was the end of a very enjoyable game as he got the 3-1 in legs to beat me 3-2 in sets.
Steve Brown a UK player residing in the USA must be credited for how honest he was during one of the games when the marker made a mistake and marked 102 required and after my throw I left 40, on my next throw the marker stopped me before my shot and said it I had 112 left not 102. Mr. Brown without hesitation walked up to the marker and told him it was clear what I was going for when I left 40 and that was it 40 remained on the scoreboard not 50.
Before the game and whilst doing the draw to see who would throw 1st, I mentioned to Steve that we had mutual friends in common, Peter Sladden and that he might not remember me way back 8 years when we played at the Swan in Kingston for the same team the Spring A Leek. In fact he does not remember but I do recall his 1st 3 darts with his multicolour flights when he walked up to the board and hit a 180!!!!!
A true gentlemen and all the players from Gibraltar spoke very highly of him after that incident which some other players might have questioned the marker and would have most definitely asked the marker to leave my true score which was 50, meaning I would lose at least 1 dart to try and leave myself a double.
