Today we fly to the UK and I am glad that their are drivers such as HenryZ. & HarryP. who are coming with us. Simply because its better to go in a hired car as it both shortens the journey and its much better not to be waiting for trains & taxi's. Of course they are always welcome as friends (before some nitwit is thinking I am being quite harsh).
The youth player who I am being the legal guardian of, seems to be a good kid and is being rather reserved. So lets see how he opens up to me in the next few days.
Our first adventure comes when we sit on the plane and the kid loses his mobile phone, then can you Adam & Eve it on getting off he realises that his passport is nowhere to be found. Thankfully the same little girl who returned the mobile also spotted the passport under the seats.
As per usual things can't go simple for me and after our lost & found adventure I also get stopped by passport/immigration control. It turns out I need a letter from the parent to confirm that I will be taking care of the kid during our stay in the UK. Something that I have never had to do as I have never been the legal guardian for anyone under 18. This was something that never crossed my mind. Anyways, the Immigration lady was very polite, I gave her all the info I had at my disposal concerning the competition and she headed off to carry out background checks.
20 minutes later she returned and gave us the all clear and off we went to pick up our suitcases.
It Took us 3 hours to get to Manchester from Gibraltar and then a further 2 hours 45 minutes to get to Bridlington but at least it we arrived safely.
Well after unpacking we head to down to get a bite to eat and its straight to the practice board. at 11:30pm like good boys we head up to the room for a good 8 hours sleep, so lets see what happens tomorrow at the Lakeside World Pro Playoffs.
