3 days to Winmau - 1 Dec 2008

In a final attempt to go to the Winmau relaxed!!! I am trying to consolidate all tasks that can be done beforehand or at least to make a list so that they can be completed on my return. Otherwise I wont be able to properly relax.

DysonP. visits my office to hand me a cheque of the last minute sponsor I included in the article yesterday and I advise him that I will be able to cash it tomorrow for him. This is good for both the player and the GDA as without the GDA and the sponsorship letters we prepare on behalf of players it is slightly more difficult to say the least to get sponsored as an individual. For this reason I have made it the norm to obtain 10% of whatever monies a player receives and the rest is given to the player for his/her perusal. You scratch my back I scratch yours. I mean you don't expect me to visit the bank to cash cheques and/or to prepare letters tailored for specific sponsors and the GDA not to make something out of it, do you!!!!

Darren has informed me of the date when the GBC Open day will be held (Wednesday 17th Dec 2008) so I take heed of this and send an email to members concerning the things that they can do to help out. See email transcript below:

Dear Members / Contacts,

In continuation from last year, the Gibraltar Darts Association will be holding a fund raising event in aid of the GBC Open Day. The plan of action is to spend 1 hour at various pubs / clubs on a specific day, play darts and raise as much money as possible. If a team wishes to use their venue that day to also raise moneys then please do so, make it a fun day and raise as much money as possible.

What the members can do for us is give us a timescale that best suits the venue were you play eg. best time at college for example is on Saturday when Barca is playing, or Laguna Social club midday Saturday etc etc. Or at least the day of the week in which it is most likely to be packed with punters so that we can raise as much money as possible.

I must add that last year was a success despite the non existent contribution from existing members and this is something that's beneficial to everyone who is resident in Gibraltar, so lets try to show as much interest as possible.

Collection tins can be placed at your local, please call Darren so that he can supply you with one.

Any volunteer that wishes to help can do so by calling the Secretary, Darren Olivero on 54027171.

With your help we will be able to set the best date for this and re-contact all members / contacts accordingly.
Many thanks.

Justin Broton

I also manage to go to our GDA PO Box to check for one last time before I head off to the Winmau just in case something important needs to be handled. There is only one letter from Aquagib granting 2 days special leave to Amos Bosano, an employee of theirs and whom I text just to let him know. I also send an email to Aquagib's main office giving them thanks and highlighting the importance of special leave.

This reminds me of the Xmas cards we need to start building a listing of and this is a very important public relations item on the agenda that the GDA should never ignore.

In route from the Post Office I visit my bank and deposit monies which has been collected from the membership fees and which I am owed from purchases I have been making since the beginning of the year, for example the £400 deposit of our 50th anniversary Gala dinner which I had to fork out at the time from my own pocket. Things one does for the GDA eh!!!!!

Amos sends me an email from the UK reminding me of flights and shafts he requires so I reply back and tell him that I hope he is having a good time in Manchester and that I will pack a few sets straight away before I forget again.

Lastly and it seems to have been done on purpose (the consolidation of items on the agenda I have been doing in the previous days), DarrenO. speaks to me on MSN concerning the GBC Open Day and if we can discuss things that need doing whilst I'm away so we have arranged for tomorrow to meet up and get things sorted.

Oh and yes, after all this I have managed to have a chuck for at least 2 hours jejejeje.
