Finally Gala Day 50th - 8 Nov 2008

The day has arrived and I have been the whole day preparing the speech for tonight's 50th Gala anniversary dinner.

It has taken me from 1pm when I finished work up until 7pm when I finally finished the speech.

It has been a big challenge but thankfully because of my persistence from gathering notes for the past 2 months it all fit together. Lets see how it goes tonight! I am not worried but of course slightly apprehensive as to the outcome.

Its always difficult as there are 50 years to talk about and I am only 32 so I will try to leave as many names out as possible (and not disappoint) and not forget any details. In fact I will add a link to the transcript in my next post.

DarrenO. has managed to get flags and I have sifted through the 300 pins I have of the GDA to get the ones that have the print properly centered as unfortunately many of them have been misprinted.

I am hoping that DarrenO. does manage to speak to Gache as we do need to give the commemorative gift to all attendees which thankfully we have got Saccone & Speed (Gibraltar) Ltd to sponsor for us. Unfortunately we will not be able to give that on the night and our GDA badge will not arrive in Gibraltar until the 11th, hence we are giving our own general purpose flags & pins instead as an interim alternative (for now).
