Start of the season - 1st Oct 2008

Just to start off a rather typical day especially as the league is about to commence I have received several phone calls today, where do we play? where is such and such a club, can I still register someone to play tomorrow you know the typical phone calls (most of which I reply to during my cigarette breaks as I am doing a Microsoft course at work!!!!!!!).

DysonP. comes to my office and hands me a cheque which I tell him I might not be able to cash as its badly written, nonetheless I accept it.

In my lunch break I manage to print off all the membership sheet which are now going to be used in replacement of the individual membership cards, quite simply as its a hassle and it takes too long to prepare those dreaded membership cards. Lack of sponsorship requests for the past two years has forced me to tackle this in a different way and let captains do the draw with pieces of paper or cards they can cut themselves (sorry captains, but we do have lives... and I have been asking for way too long for some sponsorship on this matter).

DavidP. has a rescheduled game on the 1st league match so I have to prepare his membership sheets , I co-ordinate with him through phone calls & txt messages and we meet at the bottom of my house.

Whilst I'm with DavidP. FrancisT. calls me up to sign a new player which I advise him that without at least a photo, full name and the monies he will not be able to play as the 1st league game is the next day and we cant do miracles as the fact is that new players have to accepted by the GDA committee.

During the same period ChristianT. is passing by and reminds me about his long awaited set of dimplex flights which I had promised him for months but unfortunately I simply just keep forgetting.

I finish speaking with all 3 and go home and the 1st thing I do is place the flights in my infamous GDA bag (which is a permanent fixture on my shoulder) and like that I wont forget Christian'sT. long awaited flights.

NicholasC. knocks on the door minutes later as he has come to take down to the Paint Shop all the membership sheets which captains have been advised by email (did that today too) that they will be ready for collection anytime Friday.
