Tranquility resumed - 6th Jan 2009

After yesterdays mini marathon things have been easier to handle today.

Disappointingly I received confirmation from the PDC organizers that only 16 year olds and over are allowed to play and so most of our youth will not be able to participate. Especially Alex Nuñez who is one of Gibraltar's great prospects and getting him on the board as early as possible is the best thing that could happen to him. He even secured a sponsor for both events!!!! Anyways his time will come.

Things are clearly hotting up as I have been asked for an interview but for Newswatch not Sports Report (Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation) which is seen by a larger audience locally. I have replied by email confirming that I have problem in doing an interview.

I've also confirmed by email to the Media to try and gain support for the mixed events this Friday who are suffering from the lack of ladies in Gibraltar who want to play darts.

Including the above further emails have been received and sent concerning the purchase of new dartboards and I have forwarded an email to the Chief Minister to see if he can cordially join us for the inaugural event on Friday 16th Jan 2009, hosted by Stan James which the committee has been invited to.

It should be good as Phil Taylor will be playing against VIP's including Dylan and hopefully Dyson. Also Wayne Mardle will be playing poker with Stan James employees so it should be an entertaining evening. I believe Sky Sports will attend and this will have a great effect for tourism and exposure of Gibraltar itself not only for darts in Gibraltar.

Lastly the PDC has changed the advert online about both competitions as the entry fee is not very clear so I have highlighted that to them, as I keep receiving phone calls on this. Thanks Matthew.
