Setup Day - 9th Jan 2009

I've been confirmed by the Sports Authority that the lecture rooms have been cleared for us so I immediately send an email asking members to lend a hand with the setup, not much hope in hell that anyone will turn up but there you go, all I can do is send the email and hope that 1 or 2 offer to come forward and get there hands dirty.

After yesterdays meeting I start to tick a few things off and one of them is getting the booking sorted for the Central Hall (Gibraltar Open & Presentation Awards Ceremony). Francis Rumbo from the Culture department calls me within minutes and advised me that he warned us way back in November to book it early. As things stand in March the hall is already booked, but he will nonetheless pass it on to the Sports Minister to see if he can get something sorted.

After receiving phone calls basically daily (as people do not know how to read basically) I resend an email in big bold red letters stating that the qualifiers are still open, with times and dates.

PEOPLE!!!!! READ THE EMAILS CAREFULLY PLEASE.

There are no hidden messages its usually all there and if it is not I have trusted proof readers like Amos & Darren who correct me and then an addendum is forwarded.

I have also resent the GDA Cup 1st round matches as again I keep getting asked for it, but this time its because some members are quite lazy and its easier to ask than to sit down and look for an email. Which quite frankly out of order as I always make sure I have a very clear subject field in all my emails and spotting it would be a 2 minute job.

I take half day off to help out. Thankfully Dylan and Darren had taken around half of the equipment in the morning so it basically turned out to be 2 truck loads of equipment. Thankfully that's over now and all the equipment is now at the venue, including the dartboards which also arrived today.

As I'm not a labourer (white collar) I'm always very fearful when I pick heavy goods simply because I end up straining some muscle or another and it really spoils by darts. Lets see how I feel tonight for the mixed events which I am playing with Dylan & Kayra Duo. More on that tomorrow.

Also it bothers me that we dont have more support from members as I always help out but if I could avoid having to lift anything (I am a player too) also because there are other things I have sometimes needed to do whilst they are setting up. As things stand I help up with the setup and then I end up doing more work completing other pending tasks (things that people don't see) eg. emails, pending articles, posters, changing the website, letters, meeting notes, darts accessories, tons of other stuff...

Amos where is my egg roll & Coke jejejeje !!!!!!
