Today I have had no option but to get the contact details of members (from the membership forms) past and present and send them a txt message asking for the payment for the 50th anniversary as we have been pressured for the menus by the Casino and quite rightly so!!!!!
Its quite unbelievable that only 1 person has paid up to now, but I know there are around 30 that will be attending (I am not too far off when I said only between 40 to 50 would). Originally we earmarked between 100 to 150 (in our dreams) but considering the richness of the history and the amount of people that have played in the past, we were right in our optimistic turnout.
It took me the better part of one hour to send the emails and to get the txting list sorted but I managed to do so. It was unbelievable as I received quite a few txt messages back confirming they would not be able to attend, some people replied back asking me who I was jejejeje and a few others who called me to confirm they will be attending. Whom I replied CALL DARREN for Gods sake, give him the money pay the man.
Anyways that said, I have sent Amos an email asking him to please please please try to at least get as many chairmen to attend, seeing our attendance number will be quite small, it would be good to at least get all the representatives / chairmen / presidents or as many as possible to attend. I understand this will also be difficult as we have 3 of them in the UK, a few that want nothing to do with darts and a few that have unfortunately passed away.
I am definitely going even if it is by myself as I paid the deposit of £400 out of my own pocket so I will have to scoff down quite a few plates and ask for about 11 doggy bags jejejeje.
Lets see how this unfolds tomorrow, crunch time.....
